About volleyball courts

A good volleyball floor resists slipping and is easy on the joints

A volleyball court built to standard needs a slip-resistant surface that absorbs the impact of jumping and spiking, to reduce injuries. DMH Sport Floor designs and installs volleyball court flooring end to end, from base preparation and coating to line marking under the rules, for indoor and outdoor courts.

Volleyball court paint

Which paint should you use on a volleyball court?

A volleyball court has to resist slipping and take repeated jumping, so the paint system is chosen by whether the court is indoors or outdoors.

PU paint for indoor volleyball courts

A seamless, resilient polyurethane surface that absorbs impact on spikes and landings and reduces the load on the knees, with a slip-resistant finish suited to diving for the ball. Used in gyms and multi-purpose halls. Read more: PU sports court paint

Acrylic paint for outdoor volleyball courts

Water-based acrylic paint mixed with anti-slip sand that stands up to sun and rain and is easy to maintain. Suited to courts at schools, communities and multi-purpose areas. For a softer surface, choose Acrylic Cushion paint Details: Acrylic sports court paint

Popular volleyball court colors

The court is usually orange, blue or green, with another color for the zone around it to mark it clearly. Indoor courts should use a light-colored floor. Lines are 5 cm wide in a light color that differs from the floor and from other sports' lines. FIVB official competitions require white lines and different colors for the court and the free zone.

Volleyball court painting steps

  1. Check the base and its moisture level, then clean it
  2. Repair cracks, level the surface and apply the primer
  3. Apply the resurfacer, plus the rubber cushion layers if you choose a cushion system
  4. Apply the color coats and anti-slip finish evenly
  5. Mark the lines to standard volleyball court dimensions, then inspect and hand over
